Thruway, Metro-North May Shut Down Before Monday Evening Commute

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged residents in Westchester County and throughout the Hudson Valley to stay home if possible on Monday due to the impending blizzard.

The storm is expected to arrive by late morning on Monday and will reach peak intensity on Monday night into Tuesday. As a result roadways like Interstate 84 and mass transit like Metro-North could be shut down before the evening commute.

"New York State is taking all necessary precautions to prepare for this storm, and I urge residents to put safety first and plan ahead to protect themselves and others throughout the duration of this snowstorm," Cuomo said.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning that will go into effect at 1 p.m. Monday.

Whiteout conditions are expected overnight with heavy snowfall and wind gusts that could be more than 60 mph. For the complete forecast, click here.
