The storm is expected to arrive by late morning on Monday and will reach peak intensity on Monday night into Tuesday. As a result roadways like Interstate 84 and mass transit like Metro-North could be shut down before the evening commute.
"New York State is taking all necessary precautions to prepare for this storm, and I urge residents to put safety first and plan ahead to protect themselves and others throughout the duration of this snowstorm," Cuomo said.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning that will go into effect at 1 p.m. Monday.
Whiteout conditions are expected overnight with heavy snowfall and wind gusts that could be more than 60 mph. For the complete forecast, click here.
