Storms Result In Road Closures, Thousands Without Power In Westchester

Bedford Central Schools are closed as a result of multiple road closures due to downed trees and power lines.

Approximately 1,500 were left without power in the Ossining/New Castle area, with power expected to be back by noon.

Six outages in the Mount Kisco area have resulted in 388 being without power Thursday morning.

Approximately 1,400 are without power in the White Plains area, according to Con Ed.

Approximately 1,000 outages have been reported in Yonkers.

Nearly 5,000 of NYSEG's approximately 38,000 Putnam customers were without power Thursday morning. NYSEG also reported 2,224 customers without power in Dutchess. Central Hudson reports more than 2,000 of its customers without power in Dutchess.

NYSEG reported more than 3,800 without power among its 32,756 Westchester customers. More than 2,000 of those customers are in Lewisboro.

There are also numerous downed trees and road closures throughout the county, including:

* Route 129 between Route 118 and Birdsall Drive in Yorktown Heights

* Route 9D between Firethorn Drive and Castle Point Road in Wappingers Falls

* Whippoorwill Road at Pin Oak Lane in Chappaqua

Thursday will be cloudy with temperatures falling into the mid to low 40s by late afternoon.
