Sgt. James Cuffe of the North Castle Police Department said in statement Wednesday that, although workers continue to work around the clock to restore power, the Nor'Easter could halt that process. Cuffe said that if winds reach more than 39 mph, workers will be forced to stop until the gusts calm down.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service expect wind gusts to reach as high as 47 mph through Thursday evening.
As of Tuesday morning, 2,205 customers throughout North Castle were still without power.
With temperatures expected to drop over the next few days and thousands still without power, North Castle is offering various locations for residents to go to stay warm during the storm.
The Hergenhan Recreation Center remains open as a shelter for all residents with heat, electricity, food and water. The shelter will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on a daily basis until further notice. Overnight accommodations can be made.
North Castle Public Library's locations in Armonk and North White Plains reopened Wednesday after having power restored. Both locations are offering heat, electricity and Wi-Fi for all residents. The branch in North White Plains will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the location in Armonk will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
