Officials have released the identity of the 60-year-old Westchester man who was fatally struck by a Metro-North train in Westchester on Monday afternoon.
The MTA investigation into the fatal strike of Jeffery Cooney of Bronxville, the unauthorized man who was on the tracks of the Fleetwood station concluded, a Metro-North spokesperson said on Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 1:15 p.m. on Monday, the 12:47 p.m. Harlem Line train from Grand Central Terminal that was due in Southeast at 2:16 p.m. struck Cooney at the Fleetwood Metro-North station in Mount Vernon, a Metro-North spokesperson said the investigation has determined that it was non-criminal nor accidental in nature.
The incident was investigated by the MTA Police Department. The strike and subsequent investigation led to 15-minute delays for riders on the Harlem Line. The spokesperson said that customers on board the train that struck the man boarded the next Southeast bound train at the station.
