The beaches are all open along Long Island Sound in Westchester for Saturday despite sporadic rain during the week, according to the Save the Sound and the Connecticut Fund for the Environment blog, Green Cities, Blue Water.
The groups provide swim alerts online for Westchester every weekend morning and on weekdays when beaches are closed. Pollution frequently leads to swimming bans on Long Island Sound beaches.
But today is safe in the waters with a high near 85 degrees expected under sunny skies, says the National Weather Service. But keep one eye on the sky: there is a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Earlier this week, the Natural Resources Defense Council released its annual “Testing the Waters” beach report, documenting just how frequent and widespread the problem is. You can read the group's blog post about it here.
