Kahn is managing partner and owner of five dealership locations between Albany, Poughkeepsie and Middletown, offering leading brands like Honda, Ford, Jaguar-Land Rover, Volvo and now Acura.
In 2007, Kahn acquired the group’s flagship store Friendly Honda, and is now the number one volume dealership in the mid-Hudson Valley. In 2012, he completed his fourth acquisition in six years with Friendly Ford. With the addition of Acura, Kahn projects $250 million in sales and more than 6,000 new and used cars annually.
“Performance and safety are core values of Acura. It offers affordable luxury - a great alternative for our Friendly customers," he said.
Plans are in the works to expand and renovate the Middletown facility. Kahn also plans to keep existing personnel as well as hire additional staff given the anticipated growth.
“The Friendly culture is unique. If your team is passionate about the company, then they will do extraordinary things for customers. I am a firm believer that customer satisfaction starts with employee satisfaction,” said Kahn.
Kahn received his MBA from Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University: “I came out of a senior executive position at a large national car dealership consolidator, and decided to go off on my own,” he said.
His connection to the auto industry, though, started more than 20 years ago. “Ironically enough, I had about nine months before I began business school in which I worked at Acura of Westchester. I sold my wife her first Acura, actually. I could give her a better deal today, though,” joked Kahn.
