Construction crews working near the exit ramp for Paramus Road off the westbound highway accidentally punctured the 16-inch main shortly before noon Aug. 17. Van Splits Utility Pole On Route 4 Approach
A van slammed into a utility pole, splitting it, just off westbound Route 4 on Friday. The driver of the Chevrolet Astro van was checked out at the scene and released following the crash just past Lakeview Street on the Grand Avenue approach to the highway in River Edge shortly before noon Aug. 4. The incident jammed area traffic. All Points Towing removed the vehicle and a crew from PSE&G replaced the pole.

A mother and her young daughter escaped serious injury when their SUV hit a deer on Route 4. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 hit the deer on the westbound highway in Englewood shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15. The Shops at Riverside off Route 4 in Hackensack was evacuated Tuesday as city firefighters doused a compactor blaze. Tire-Toting Tractor Trailer Splits, Tying Up Traffic Off GWB
A tractor-trailer buckled and bent at the westbound Route 4 ramp to Route 95 in Fort Lee during Monday’s morning rush. The mishap occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m., jamming traffic. The delays continued more than an hour while the cargo – used tires – was offloaded to another truck before the trailer could be towed.
