Frank Pawlowski, Former Bayonne Police Chief Dies, 80 Frank Pawlowski, who served as Bayonne Police Chief from 1997 to 2004, died on Monday, Aug. 28 at the age of 80, Mayor Jimmy Davis announced. Pawlowski was born and raised in Bayonne, helping his father run Pop's Corner, which was known for its roast beef sandwiches, according to his obituary. First Responders Rush To Rescue Bayonne Bridge Jumper Responders rushed to rescue a person who jumped from the Bayonne Bridge just before 2 p.m. Saturday. Arriving units found individuals on a tug boat in the Kill van Kull pulling the victim aboard, located just east of the bridge, Bayonne Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Bartos said. Phil Murphy announced Thursday as cases climbed to 51,027 "The number of cases by county are doubling," the governor said.
