One Tonnelle Avenue gas station in North Bergen was robbed and another was the scene of a carjacking less than 24 hours and barely a half-mile apart, authorities said. It was shortly before 5:30 a.m. Easter Sunday when a gunman entered the Shell station on the northbound highway and pretended to be interested in a phone charger, police said. Shell To Close 1,000 Gas Stations: Here's Why, Company Says
One of the nation's major oil companies says it will close 1,000 gas stations. Shell made the announcement in its 2024 Energy Transition Strategy report, saying the measure is “in response to customer needs” and aimed at reallocating those resources towards EV charging stations. Shell said it will close 500 stations in 2024 and the other 500 in 2025. : Armed Duo Sought In Overnight Gas Station Holdup Spree In Bergen, Passaic
Two bandits robbed multiple gas stations in Bergen and Passaic counties at gunpoint shortly before dawn on Sunday, responders said. The BP on eastbound Route 3 in Clifton was held up at 5 a.m. Jan. 7. One of the robbers had a handgun, the attendant told police. Less than 10 minutes later a similar gunpoint robbery occurred at the Shell station on northbound Route 3 off the corner of Malcolm Avenue. A crackhead ex-con who’d been released from state prison last year had just filled the tank of his pickup truck when he pulled a knife on a Wayne gas station attendant, authorities said. Baseball Bat Beating Leaves Jersey City Gas Station Worker Critical: Police
A 25-year-old North Bergen man beat a 54-year-old Jersey City gas station employee with a baseball bat, sending him to the hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. What started as an argument ended with Nixon Marquez beating the victim at the 164 14th St. Shell station around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, Jersey City police said. The victim suffered serious injuries to his face and back of his head. Marquez was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault.

Two gas stations in Parsippany were targeted in back-to-back robberies, authorities said Tuesday.
