3 Hospitalized In Horrific Hit-And-Run Head-On In Teaneck, DWI Driver Caught Hiding In Dumpster
A driver from Englewood dove into a Dumpster and was captured after running from the scene of a horrific head-on crash on Cedar Lane in Teaneck, police said. Responding officers were pointed toward an alleyway where Felix Veloz had fled following the collision shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Lt. Kevin Marrero said. The impact knocked a Jeep Compass driven by Veloz onto the sidewalk and into a building on Cedar Lane's north side between Lincoln Place and Elm Avenue. Bischoff's Owners Provide Reason For Closing
The owners of longstanding Teaneck ice cream shop Bischoff's have provided reason for the Cedar Lane business' closure. Steve Mather and his mom Anita tell NorthJersey.com that they've been discussing closing for about a decade. The decision to finally pull the plug was a financial one, they said. Paramus Firefighters Douse House Blaze
Paramus' bravest didn't have far to go to fight a house fire Thursday night. Police and firefighters quickly got to the Cedar Lane home around the corner from Fire Company No. 3 after the blaze broke out around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Engine access off Cedar Lane was difficult, so firefighters cut a hole in the company parking lot fence to run a line to the 2½-story, wood-frame home. The fire was doused within 20 minutes.
