Haledon Officer Shot While Conducting Drill At Passaic County Shooting Range
A Haledon police officer is recovering after an accidental shooting during a rifle course at the Passaic County shooting range this week, authorities said. The officer was conducting a drill during the week-long course when a round discharged into his leg on Wednesday, Sept. 10 around 12:45 p.m. at the range in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. The Officer was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment for injuries that were described as non-life threatening.

An 82-year-old man is believed to have accidentally shot and killed his wife in Edison. Robert Novak was in a room on the first floor of the Glencourt Avenue home he shared with his 76-year-old wife, Patricia Novak, when he tried to clear one of his registered guns around 2:10 p.m. Friday, April 5, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Authorities are investigating after Anthony Ambrose, the former chief of detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, accidentally shot himself on Friday, March 22. The incident occurred at a private office complex in Cedar Grove, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. A 30-year-old Bogota man was arrested after accidentally shooting himself in the leg and claiming he was the victim of a drive-by, authorities said. Officers called to the 100 block of West Fort Lee Road at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, July 1, found Frederick Bambo Jr., formerly of Paterson, with a gunshot wound in his upper left thigh, Sgt. Mom Of Toddler Who Accidentally Shot Himself Dead 'Lost For Words'
A 4-year-old boy from Pittsburgh has died after shooting himself in the face, according to police. The boy was identified by family members to CBS2 as Ajani Lane. His mom, Nay Lane, mourned his loss on Facebook. Police were called to a home in the 500 block of North Negley in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood around 8 a.m., according to a statement by the police. The boy was transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where he later died, police said. There was a caregiver present in the home at the time of the shooting, according to police. A Fair Lawn man shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun in his garage, police said. The 51-year-old Cyril Avenue man “was pulling back the slide of his legally owned Walther CCP 9mm handgun when he accidentally shot himself in the left hand,” Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
