2nd Ward challenger Shahin Khalique was leading Mohammed Akhtaruzzaman by a little over three dozen votes of nearly 4,000 cast -- leaving the final outcome to be determined. Far behind were Aslon Goow and Eddie Gonzalez.

6th Ward incumbent Andre Sayegh took the only one-and-one contest, defeating Al Abdelaziz by nearly 500 votes.

Meanwhile, incumbent Michael Jackson had a significant-enough lead of nearly 600 votes to retain the 1st Ward seat he won in a special election last Novemer after Anthony Davis pleaded guilty to bribery.

Jackson outpaced Veronica Ovalles and Antoinette Brevard.

Incumbent Ruby Cotton also easily took the 4th Ward seat over Della Fischer and Juan Kivelier Sosa.

In the 3rd Ward, 16-year incumbent Bill McKoy had a comfortable margin of more than 300 votes over his nearest challenger, Flavio Rivera. Also running were Lilisa Mimms and Kenneth Simmons.

In the 5th Ward, Luiz Velez had a lead of more than 450 votes over Wendy Guzman. Chrystal Cleaves also ran.
