Carlos Varlack, 40, who spent nine months in prison on drug related convictions, was headed the wrong way on Summit Avenue near Broadway just before 3:30 a.m. when Officer Stephen Buskiewicz stopped him.

A computer checked turned up several active arrest warrants, Fair Lawn Sgt. Richard E. Schultz said.

After taking him to headquarters and processing him, Fair Lawn turned him over to their counterparts in Paterson.

Records show that Varlack has a previous conviction from 199 for having hash. He was put on probation at the time.
