PAPD officers stopped a white 1994 Toyota driven by 32-year-old William D. Lampley for having a broken left taillight at 14th and Erie Street around 5:45 p.m. yesterday.

A computer checked turned up a warrant for a probation violation on an aggravated assault conviction out of Bergen County, along with warrants out of Passaic and Morris counties, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

As officers were removing from the car, Pentangelo said, Lampley took off west on 14th Street, darting in and out of traffic.

A backup officer grabbed Lampley, who fought back, Pentangelo said. The officer was later treated at Jersey City Medical Center for minor wrist and leg injuries, he said.

Given the warrants and the new charges — eluding, resisting arrest, bail-jumping, Lampley was ordered held on $90,000 bail in the Hudson County Jail.
