Police were called to the Red Carpet Inn around 11 a.m. yesterday following the stabbing on the 900 block of Madison Avenue more than four hours earlier.

Authorities withheld the release of information until next of kin could be notified. A release was then issued today. “Cause of death is an apparent hanging,” it said, in part.

Police said Manuel Olivo Morillo stabbed the 21-year-old victim several times, then fled after being fought off by a neighbor.
