Paterson Police Seek Gunman In Street Shooting

PATERSON, N.J. -- A Paterson man was shot in the leg as dawn broke Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The city's ShotSpotter Gunfire Detection system led officers to 12th Avenue and Auburn Street around 5 a.m., Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

Although at first unable to find a victim, police located him near Straight and Governor Streets, Speziale said.

The 35-year-old was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where the director said he was reported in stable condition. An investigation was continuing, he said.

Speziale asked that anyone who saw something or has information about the shooting or person responsible to Detective Francisco Brito or Detective Christopher Ravaleese of the Paterson Police Ceasfire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
