Detectives were searching for whoever fired several shots, grazing the boy's torso, in the area of Keen Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard around 10:15 p.m., Police Director Jerry Speziale said Thursday morning.

After an initial check of the area turned up nothing, police found the boy in the area of Governor Street near Carroll Street, Speziale said.

He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where the director said he was listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact Detectives Francisco Brito or Michael Quinones of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
