Parolee runs across tracks, leaps from building — still caught

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Bogota and Teaneck police tracked down a parolee who gave them a bogus ID when they tried to question him, then took off on foot and jumped 15 feet from the roof of an old factory building at Herrick Park in Teaneck before he was arrested on a quiet street.

Johndell Graham, 25, a convicted burglar and drug dealer from Passaic County who has spent nearly three of the past five years in prison, is back behind bars, charged with hindering apprehension, obstruction of justice, and eluding, among other counts.

Graham, who authorities said has been living with his girlfriend on Linden Avenue in Bogota and has used the alias Travis Mann, is being held on $15,000 cash bail at the Bergen County Jail.

A concerned citizen called Bogota police late this afternoon about a man “racing up and down Linden Avenue on a motorized mini-bike,” Detective Geoffrey Cole told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Uniformed officers quickly found him. After handing over identification, he suddenly took off on foot across the railroad tracks, Cole said.

Kahn, a Bergen County Police Department dog, led officers to a building on the other side. As they reached the top, their quarry jumped from the roof into Herrick Park below and kept running.

Bogota and Teaneck officers established a perimeter, then squeezed it to a backyard eight blocks from the park — on Mildred Street off Norma Road — where Bogota Patrolman Devin Rivera and a Teaneck uniformed unit grabbed Graham, Cole told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 135-pound Graham has been in and out of jail and prison since 2006 — most recently after serving 15 months for several convictions of receiving stolen property, records show.

A woman identified as Graham’s girlfriend and another friend were issued summonses for giving police false information about the man, who remained unidentified as of 5 p.m., the detective said.
