The most recent was Saturday, after DNA testing on evidence found by Detective Jeff Welsh led to the arrest of 33-year-old George Wayman of Newark for a July 23 burglary on Oak Street. Wayman posted $10,000 bail and was released pending a hearing on burglary and theft charges.
Last Monday, Detective Peter Yuskaitis arrested 26-year-old Glen Rojas of Clifton in connection with an Aug. 12 break-in on 26th Street, thanks to DNA evidence. Rojas, whose criminal history stretches back to 2007, remained held on $50,000 in the Bergen County Jail this morning, charged with burglary and theft.
Osvaldo Rodriguez, 38, of Newark (mugshot, above), was charged on Jan. 9 with a second burglary and theft after originally being arrested by Fair Lawn Officer Nicholas Snyder in Paterson while carrying proceeds from a 1st Street burglary on Oct 17, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
DNA evidence tied Rodriguez to the second break-in, on July 16 on Oak Street.
In the first burglary, a Fair Lawn resident summoned police after seeing Rodriguez carrying two bags down the street. The area had been hit hard by burglaries this summer, and residents were asked to report anything suspicious, Metzler explained.

The call brought a group of officers to Morlot Avenue near the bridge to Paterson. With help from their Paterson colleagues, the Fair Lawn officers located and arreste Rodriguez. Inside a backpack and a black bag he was carrying were a laptop, camera, Ipad, electronic reader, cellphone, jewelry and credit cards, Metzler said. The bags themselves were stolen, as well, he said.
At the time, Rodriguez was free on $10,000 bail following a September burglary arrest in Paramus.

Rodriguez, who is charged with burglaries in Elmwood Park, as well, remained held on $110,000 bail in the county jail.
Metzler reminded residents and business owners to lock windows and doors to homes and vehicles to help prevent against burglary and theft.
