A Ridgefield Park police officer turned up a handgun loaded with hollow-nose bullets, a small amount of crystal meth and $24,500 in suspicious cash during a traffic stop, authorities said. Hillsdale Man, 50, Falls From Deck While Watching Eclipse
A man was airlifted to the hospital after falling from a residential deck in Hillsdale while watching Monday's solar eclipse, authorities said. The 50-year-old victim fell 10 feet from a deck without a railing while watching the Monday afternoon eclipse on Knickerbocker Road off Riverdale Street, Hillsdale Police Chief Sean Smith said. An 82-year-old man is believed to have accidentally shot and killed his wife in Edison. Robert Novak was in a room on the first floor of the Glencourt Avenue home he shared with his 76-year-old wife, Patricia Novak, when he tried to clear one of his registered guns around 2:10 p.m. Friday, April 5, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Hackensack Woman, 71, Suffers Severe Head Injury At Fair Lawn Venue
A 71-year-old Hackensack woman was hospitalized with a severe head injury after she took a bad fall at a Fair Lawn catering hall, authorities said. CPR was conducted on the unresponsive victim after she tripped and hit her head on a stool while dancing at the Craftsman shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, April 6, Police Sgt. Eric Eleshewich said. She was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson. Fair Lawn EMS and St. Joe's ALS responded along with borough police, who reviewed video of the accident.

ICE agents took custody of a 33-year-old ride-share driver from Turkey after he was jailed on charges of sexually assaulting a female passenger in Fair Lawn.
