NORTH HALEDON, N.J. -- Ethel Vander Werf, a resident of North Haledon, died Monday, Feb.8. She was 81.
Vander Werf was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and caretaker to her family. She loved to cook and hosted many family picnics and holiday dinners.
She is survived by her husband Peter; her son Alan of Avon, Conn.; her daughter Susan of Waterbury, Conn.; two grandchildren Ivana Rodrigues and her fiancé Thomas Misencik and Sarah Beth Vander Werf; her brother John Ruitenberg; and her sister Bella Tanis.
She was predeceased by two brothers Henry and Alco Ruitenberg.
Her family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Burial will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
