A Toms River teen was sentenced to nearly two years in juvenile custody after he drove drunk during a deadly crash and gave police a fake ID, authorities said. Yasmin Sanchez-Centeno, 18, was sentenced on Monday, Mar. 25 to 20 months of Juvenile Justice Commission custody because the crash happened when he was a minor. A 27-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Manchester, authorities said. The crash occurred on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at approximately 4:45 pm, on Route 37 between Bone Hill Road and Commonwealth Boulevard, according to Manchester police. The body of a Toms River man reported missing was found in a body of water on Thursday, March 28, authorities said. John Applegate, also known as “Bubby," was found in an area of water between Lakehurst Road and Route 37, after having been missing since Friday, March 24, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. A pedestrian was critically hurt in a crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 9:31 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, Toms River police and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and River Drive. The initial investigation revealed that a 42 male from Lodi stepped into traffic, outside of the crosswalk, and was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound, police said. Police in Ocean County are on the lookout for two armed robbery suspects, authorities said. A pair of New Jersey Smashburger restaurants have closed The burger joint shuttered its restaurants in Hackensack and Toms River last month.
