Hospital ERs in Bergen, Montclair Closed By Nationwide Ransomware Attack
The latest in a continuing series of nationwide ransomware attacks closed two hospital emergency rooms in New Jersey. Authorities haven't disclosed what's been demanded by the cybercriminals who forced ambulances to divert to other hospitals from Pascack Valey Medical Center in Westwood and Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair beginning on Thanksgiving evening. HEROES: Two good Samaritans helped police rescue an overdosing driver in one of two Narcan saves made in Emerson over the weekend, authorities said. The civilians had pulled the lifeless 30-year-old Lodi driver from his Ford sedan, which was stopped in the middle of Ackerman Avenue, shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, Capt. Michael McDermott said. Fire At Closter Waste Management Company Sends Employee To Hospital
A pre-dawn fire at a waste management facility in Closter sent an employee to the hospital for observation, responders said. The fire broke out in the Interstate Waste Services transfer station garbage bays on Railroad Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday, Detective Lt. Vincent Aiello said. Two employees tried to extinguish the blaze with a fire hose before firefighters took over, he said. A recently-sold Westwood house that was undergoing renovations went up in flames overnight, injuring seven Hillsdale firefighters. The firefighters were checked out for what turned out to be minor injuries at nearby Pascack Valley Medical Center (HUMC) after a porch roof collapsed on them in the 5:30 a.m. Oakland Avenue blaze on Wednesday.
