The fire broke out at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at 948 Route 33, Howell police said. A 9-1-1 call was placed by an Eatontown firefighter who observed smoke coming from the residence. Motorcyclist, 40, Killed In Jersey Shore Crash A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an overnight crash at the Jersey Shore, authorities said. The Jackson Township man was heading south on Manassa Road in Howell when he ran off the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole around 12:35 a.m., local police said. Part of the problem was blamed on an electric substation in Howell, according to an unconfirmed report.
