Car Plunges Into North Branch Raritan River (Photos) Emergency crews in Somerset County quickly responded after a car plunged into the North Branch Raritan River Tuesday night, August 1. The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department arrived with several water rescue technicians and found the occupants safely out of the vehicle. Members worked alongside the towing company as the vehicle was removed from the water. Somerset County Haz Mat also assisted. Scroll down to view additional photos from the scene. Investigation Launched Into Somerset County Blaze That Hospitalized 2 Firemen, Engulfed 4 Acres A Somerset County blaze that engulfed four acres of woodlands, elicited a massive response from surrounding agencies, and hospitalized two firemen for injuries last week has prompted an investigation, authorities said. The Bridgewater Township Police Department responded to the Thursday, April, 13 call near 1482 Long Rd. just before 4 p.m., Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said the following Wednesday. Tractor-Trailer, Vehicle Towing Boat Crash On Route 78 A tractor-trailer collided with a vehicle towing a boat on Route 78 in Somerset County, authorities said. Emergency crews responded to the crash scene in the eastbound lanes on Wednesday afternoon, the Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department said. The department stayed on site until the towing company finished cleaning the vehicle involved, authorities said. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.

Far Hills-Bedminster FD Contain Car Fire That Had Begun To Spread The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department Sunday put out a car fire that broke out on eastbound I-78, the department said in a statement.  Firefighters found the vehicle on the left shoulder, where it had touched off a brush fire. The main blaze was quickly contained but firefighters had to apply fire-suppressing foam to the highway after spilled fuel ignited.  There were no immediate reports of injuries.
