A 31-year-old woman accused of pointing a gun at a construction worker outside her apartment complex was arrested after a standoff with police Thursday, authorities said. Celeste E. Estimated $55,000 In Cash, Jewelry Stolen In Northvale Burglary
Someone made off with an estimated $55,000 in cash and gold jewelry during a burglary in Northvale, authorities said. A rear door was bashed in and the Veterans Place home ransacked sometime between 3 and 9 p.m. Saturday, Police Chief Howard Ostrow said. HEROES: Clifton police prevented a tragedy when they grabbed an emotionally disturbed boy wielding a knife during a standoff in a local park. Officers responding to the call in the Allwood section around 9 p.m. Monday chased the troubled 16-year-old boy to Jubilee Park, Lt. Robert Bracken said. Troubled Woman Barricaded In Bergenfield Home
A troubled woman barricaded herself for several hours inside a Bergenfield home before she was taken into custody. Area streets remained closed as members of Bergen County SWAT and Regional Crisis Negotiation teams joined borough police at the Maiden Lane home after the standoff began around 12:30 p.m. It continued for more than five hours before the SWAT team forced its way in and seized the woman without further incident. She was taken to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for an evaluation.

SWAT Standoff Ends With Weapons Seized In Union
Authorities said they seized several weapons after an hours-long SWAT standoff in Union ended peacefully Monday night. The home on Arnet Avenue off Morris Avenue was evacuated of family members in the standoff, which began around 7:40 p.m. with a report of a man armed with a shotgun barricaded inside, responders said. An intoxicated, suicidal Upper Saddle River man pointed a gun out the window at SWAT team members before surrendering after a 3½-hour standoff overnight Sunday, authorities said.
