Smoking Radiator Brings Firefighters To Hasbrouck Heights Restaurant
A fire at the Heights bar and grill was knocked down this weekend. Crews were called to the restaurant at 165 Boulevard on Saturday evening, Nov. 2, for reports of smoke coming from the radiator on the second floor, the fire department said. Chief 62 arrived on the scene and found fire in the walls on the first floor and smoke throughout the building. Crews from Squad 1 stretched a line and were able to knock the fire before it spread.

Paterson Building Collapse Under Investigation
Authorities are investigating a building collapse overnight in Paterson. The vacant, single-story building on Ryle Avenue collapsed around 12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, the fire department said. The building is attached to a vacant three-story mill. Public Service Electric was on the scene working to isolate power to the street and manage downed wires. Crews are actively conducting primary searches of the collapsed area.

Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. An electrical fire at Hackensack Meridian Health's Hackensack University Medical Center broke out Wednesday morning, Oct. 2. An activated fire alarm brought the city's fire department to the scene around 6:40 a.m., firefighters said. "Further investigation found an electrical buss bar shorted out and activated a nearby sprinkler head," the HFD said on Facebook. "The electrical equipment automatically shut down and the sprinkler extinguished any remaining hot spots." A 59-year-old boater was hospitalized after being struck by the propeller of a boat after being ejected from his own and sucked under water in Ocean County over Labor Day Weekend, police said. The Neshanic Station man was heading east on Manahawkin Bay in Long Beach on a personal watercraft when his boat was struck by a 28-foot vessel heading north around 4:35 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Three swimmers were rescued while in the water after sunset in Ocean Grove, officials said. 'Cowboy Hero' Dies After Lightning Strike While Warning Kids On NJ Beach About Storm: Reports
A Toms River man died after a reported lightning strike on an Ocean County beach, authorities said. Patrick Dispoto, 59, was found unconscious on the beach near J Street at around 7:38 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, a Seaside Park Police Department spokesperson told Daily Voice. Hackensack firefighters made quick work of a Wednesday morning blaze at a company that makes metal stands for hand sanitizers used in medical facilities, among other products. The call to the Testrite plant on South Newman Street came in at 8:17 a.m. after the fire broke out in a malfunctioning dust-collecting machine, city firefighters said. Ridgewood Firefighters Quickly Douse House Blaze
Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Wednesday afternoon. Residents got out safely and no injuries were reported at the split-level, single-family home in the 400 block of Race Track Road. The fire apparently began on the first floor and spread upstairs, bringing village firefighters, police and EMS. The home sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage. Boyd A.
