Gotcha! Lyndhurst Detectives Crash Home Burglary, Nab Local Couple
A Lyndhurst couple had just broken into a local home when they were seized by a pair of township detectives.
Daniel Soto, 22, and Nicolette Greco, 25, didn't see Lyndhurst Police Detective Chris Cuneo watching them case the unoccupied Kingsland Avenue home around 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said.
Detective Nick Abruscato had joined Cuneo when the couple slipped around to the side of the house and momentarily out of sight, the lieutenant said.
The detectives followed and found a broken basement window, Auteri said.

Ridgewood Bank Teller Flags ID Thief Trying To Cash $26,000 Check: Police
A Chinese national from Queens was arrested by Ridgewood police when he tried to cash a $26,000 check in another person's name with one of dozens of bogus IDs he was carrying, authorities said.
A teller at the East Ridgewood Avenue bank flagged down an officer Tuesday afternoon, May 23, while Lin X. Guan, 51, was still inside, Detective Capt. Forest Lyons said.
Police charged Guan with ID theft, trafficking personal information -- more than 50 items, with multiple victims -- and theft by unlawful taking.

Five Chinese nationals remained held in the Bergen County Jail on ID theft and forgery charges, among other offenses, after one of them tried to lease a Porsche with a stolen New York driver's license, authorities said.
Four men accompanied Yuxian Li, 32, as she tried to lease the vehicle at Porsche Englewood on Grand Avenue, records show.
Police were called and took all five into custody after reportedly finding various pieces of evidence of ID and credit card theft, among other offenses.

A New York City couple who both tried giving Hawthorne police fake IDs during a traffic stop had a trove of phony driver’s licenses, debit cards, Social Security cards and checks in other people’s names with them, authorities said.
Various violations led police to stop their 2006 BMW 525, which had a temporary registration tag that didn’t belong to the vehicle, on Rea Avenue near Goffle Road around 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, Detective Lt. Matthew Hoogmoed said.

The son of an infamous Bergen County burglar was charged with unemployment fraud after a shoplifting bust in Virginia, authorities said.
A judge ordered Daniel Gatson Jr., 24, of Ridgefield released this week after he was booked into the Bergen County Jail hours earlier, records show.
Gatson assumed another identity to open bank accounts, then applied for and received unemployment benefits from the state of New Jersey, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said, without specifying the amount.

New Milford police cracked a string of vehicle burglaries with the arrest of a Teaneck man, authorities said.
Four different vehicles were burglarized overnight in different parts of town, with victims reporting cash, credit cards, debit cards, personal ID and gift cards taken, Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders said Tuesday.
One of the debit cards was used to make a purchase in River Edge shortly after the June 22 thefts, he said.

A Long Island couple ran an ID theft operation from a leased apartment in Lyndhurst where they'd just moved in with their 14-month-old daughter, authorities said following a raid there.
