Two firefighters reportedly required medical attention after they were burned in an overnight blaze that ravaged what had once been a popular Christmastime destination in Bergen County. Flames blew through the front door and picture window of the home on a bend of Evergreen Place in Demarest near Maple Avenue and close to County Road around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22. A 95-year-old woman and two fellow residents – 71 and 65 – were identified Saturday as the victims found dead in a Clifton house fire. Three firefighters, a Clifton police officer and a fourth resident also were injured in the blaze in a corner house on Ladwick Lane at Renaissance Drive near Van Houten Avenue in the city’s Athenia section on Nov. 18, authorities said. A historic 127-year-old mansion was consumed by fire in Newark Thursday night, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said in a statement. Firefighters responded to 172 Clinton Ave. shortly before 8 p.m., where the fire was ripping through the vacant home. LODI, N.J. -- Flames tore through a Lodi condominium complex Sunday evening, sending a firefighter to the hospital with a foot injury and collapsing the roof.
