Brick Township Fire Destroys Waterfront Homes
Firefighters battled a raging blaze in Brick Township resulting in injuries and destruction to multiple waterfront homes Monday afternoon. The fire broke out at 31 Bay Way in the Bay Harbor section of the township around 3:30 p.m., bring crews from across the Jersey Shore to the scene. Wind caused flames to spread to the home next door. Man Stabbed With Machete During Argument In Kearny Walmart
A 43-year-old man was hospitalized after being assaulted with a machete inside of a Kearny Walmart Friday, police said. Police responding to 911 calls found the man inside the store with a deep cut in the back of his head around 10:30 a.m., Kearny police said. The victim was involved in an argument with another man, who then struck him in the head with a machete. The suspect fled the store before police arrived. Dog Attack Sends 2 To Hospital In South Brunswick
Two people were hospitalized after being attacked by a family dog in South Brunswick on Tuesday, police said. A man in his 50s and woman in her 60s were bitten by the family dog, a pitbull, at a house on the 100 block of New Road, local police said. The victims were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, authorities said. Their conditions were not known as of Wednesday morning. Responders included local police, EMS and animal control officers.

Scooter Rider Critically Injured In Passaic Crash
An electric scooter rider was clinging to life Tuesday morning after being struck in Passaic, responders said. Witnesses said the late-30s victim ran a red light and was struck by a minivan at the intersection of President and Parker Streets shortly after 10:30 a.m. He was unconscious when taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, responders said. The driver, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who notified the Passaic County prosecutor's fatal accident team. City firefighters and EMS also responded.

Take-In: SUV Crashes Through Front Of Oakland Restaurant
An SUV did substantial damage when it plowed through the front of a Chinese restaurant in Oakland late Saturday morning. There was no immediate word on injuries after the Ford Explorer crashed into Oakland Chinese in a Ramapo Valley Road shopping center off Yawpo Avenue near Route 287. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy. Port Authority Police Officer Kyle Chmura knows an overdose when he sees one. Responding to a call of a man down in a third-floor bathroom stall at the George Washington Bridge bus station in Washington Heights, Chmura immediately began a sternum rub in an attempt to revive the 50-year-old victim. Flames Blow Through Windows Of Garfield Multi-Family Home
Flames shot out the second-floor windows and into the eaves of a Garfield multi-family home on Sunday. Firefighters needed a little over 20 minutes to knock down the bulk of the Harrison Avenue blaze after it broke out around 2:15 p.m. The two-alarm fire displaced a couple of families whose members all got out OK, responders said. Man Struck, Killed By Hoboken Bound Train In Newark
A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in Newark Tuesday morning, authorities said. Service to the Morris and Essex line was operating on a 30-minute delay in both directions after the 7:45 a.m. incident west of the Broad Street Station, NJT spokeswoman Lisa Torbic said. The train left Montclair State University at 7:10 a.m., and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8 a.m., Torbic said. New Jersey Transit Police and EMS were on scene. None of the approximately 20 passengers and crew were on board were injured. The NJTPD is leading the investigation.

Car Rolls, Topples Utility Pole On Route 17
A car careened off Route 17, rolled and toppled a utility pole Monday night. No serious injuries were reported in the crash on the southbound highway near Franklin Turnpike in Ridgewood around 7:30 p.m. Ridgewood firefighters freed an occupant from the vehicle, which landed on its side on the shoulder. ALERT: Crash Closes Route 4
A multi-vehicle crash Friday morning closed eastbound Route 4 in Englewood. Traffic was jammed for miles after two trucks and an SUV collided around 10 a.m. in front of the Vivian. There was no immediate word on injuries. Englewood firefighters responded along with city police, Bergen County sheriff's officers and EMS that included an ambulance from Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

Driver Hospitalized After Sedan Slams Into Utility Pole In Hackensack
A driver was hospitalized after a sedan bounced off a parked car and slammed into a utility pole Friday afternoon in Hackensack. The southbound Audi cracked the pole in front of Tips N More on Main Street shortly after 2 p.m. The driver had to be placed in a neck brace before being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. City police and firefighters and Hackensack Meridian Health EMS responded.
