Paterson officials gathered Tuesday, Nov. 26, to break ground on an ambitious new community center in the Great Falls area, transforming a century-old building into a hub of opportunity and connection for residents.

The 40,000-square-foot building at 39 McBride Avenue has a storied history, serving as a silk mill, machine shop, and later a Christian school.
Now, it is poised to become the Great Falls Center, a multi-purpose space designed to enrich the community with culinary, vocational, and social opportunities.

Crackdown Of Illegal Paterson Nightlife Nets 379 Charges, 344 ABC Violations, Officials Say
Paterson is cracking down on illegal nightclubs.
The city announced the latest initiative, Operation After Dark, which began inspecting 484 after-hour establishments last March.
OAD led to 78 arrests, 379 charges, 344 state alcoholic beverage control violations, 378 summonses, 2,000 bottles of alcohol confiscated and 5 firearms removed, Mayor Andre Sayegh and Officer in Charge Isa Abassi said.

Paterson Police Getting Body Cams
Paterson police will become the latest New Jersey crime fighters to wear body cameras, authorities said Monday.
Officers will wear the cameras on their uniforms or “outermost garment" during criminal investigations, motor vehicle stops, witness interviews in criminal investigations, searches, civil disorder, use of force and constructive authority, transporting prisoners, making arrests and conducting protective searches for weapons.
