Man Struck, Killed By Freight Train In Northwest Bergen County A man was struck and killed by a freight train in Midland Park late Wednesday, multiple sources confirmed. The 19-year-old Wyckoff man was struck by a New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway train along the Newtown Road portion of the tracks near the Wyckoff border at 11:08 p.m., a railroad spokesperson at the company's Cooperstown, NY headquarters said. He was later pronounced dead at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, responders said.

The victim's 2002 Honda Civic was stopped in the fast lane of the northbound highway about a mile before Exit 4 in Alpine when it was struck by a 2021 Subaru shortly before 2 a.m., PIP Police Detective Sgt. Update: Paterson Man, 19, Shot In Head Critical A 19-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot in the head in Paterson, responders said. The victim, a Paterson resident, was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center after the shooting at the corner of Garfield Avenue and Jefferson Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, they said.
