POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Justin M. Malkemus, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, July 6. He was 27.
Born March 3,1989, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Gary Malkemus and Karen M. Wilson.
He served in the Marine Corps and was a student at Dutchess Community College. He was a member of the Veterans Club at Dutchess Community College. He was a local resident all his life and was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 2009.

Brookfield Farmers Market Serves Up Fresh Food Fix At Town Hall
BROOKFIELD, Conn. – Customers joined vendors and farmers on Friday, July 10, as the Brookfield Farmers Market marked its grand opening for the fifth year at Town Hall.
First Selectmen Steve Dunn was in attendance in honor of the grand opening and to celebrate the season.
The market specializes in serving up fresh vegetables, grilled clams, scented candles, Greek oils, gift baskets, plants, fresh produce and much more.

GLENHAM, N.Y. – Lois Ann Burns, a lifelong area resident of Glenham, died Friday, July 8. She was 77.
Born March 28, 1939, in Beacon, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Kuhn Burns.

Born Sept. 22, 1951,in Halifax County, Va, she was the daughter of Arthur Womack and Margaret Lawson.
She previously was employed as a nurse’s aid at Nyack Hospital.

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Angelina Nicolopoulos, a resident of Pearl Rivert, died Thursday, June 30. She was 91.
Born July 22, 1924, she was raised in Nyack, N.Y. She moved to Pearl River in the late 1950’s with her mother Mary, brother Alphonse and sister Carmella. She worked from early childhood with her father and volunteered at St. Ann’s and Nyack Hospital. In her later years, she worked for Orangeburg Pipe, Avon and retired from Lederle Laboratories after more then 20 years.

AIRMONT, N.Y. – Anne Claudia Grassi, a resident of Airmont and formerly of Closter, died Saturday, July 2. She was 83. Born Oct.8, 1932, in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Sarah and Anthony Grassi.
She grew up on Arthur Avenue and studied art at Washington Irving High School in Greenwich Village. After graduating, she went to work as an administrator at the NBC Radio Network in Manhattan, where she later understudied with the famous talk show star Jinx Falkenburg.

GARNERVILLE, N.Y. – Andrew Fisher, a resident of Garnerville, died Friday, July 1. He was 86.
He was born July 13, 1929, in the Bronx.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 3, at Beit Haverim Shir Shalom, 280 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, N.J. with Cantor Perper officiating. Interment was at Frederick W. Loescher Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Road, New Hempstead.

Born Aug.1, 1938, in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of Francis and Agnes Keleher.
She was a biology professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, and she also was on the nursing faculty at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, N.J.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Bernice Regunberg, a resident of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, June 30. She was 90.
She was nicknamed “Bunny” to her friends and “Grandma Bunny” to her family.
Her nickname may have been the greatest misnomer of all time. She wasn’t warm and fuzzy. She was stubborn, she was fierce, and she didn’t take nonsense from anyone.
