A couple had just left Midland Brew House around 7 p.m. Friday when the 52-year-old wife was struck by a 2005 Toyota RAV4, Kugler said.

Her leg was injured and she hit her head on the pavement and was hospitalized, he said. Her husband wasn't injured.

No summonses were issued, Kugler said.

"She nearly made it all the way across when she was struck" he said.

With the Brew House on one side of the street, the Bennigans on the other and limited parking, more pedestrians have been crossing, the chief told Daily Voice.

On Oct. 20, a 53-year-old Maywood man who was hospitalized with leg and head injuries after being struck by a car in the same roadway -- also around 7 p.m.

"Patrons are parking wherever they can and crossing North Midland," he said. "I'm afraid we may be seeing many more of these incidents.

"This needs to be revisited for the public's safety. It's just too dangerous."
