The 23-year-old victim told officers responding to a call at the Parkway Lanes bowling alley Sunday night that he was attacked by a former friend whom he identified only as Waleed and four other Arabic males, Police Chief Michael Foligno said Monday morning.

Waleed attacked him with a black folding knife and fled east with the others in an older model Toyota Corolla, he said.

The victim was treated at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

Foligno said the alleged assailant should be considered armed an dangerous. He asked that anyone about him or the incident call Elmwood Park police: (201) 796-0700, ext. 110.

All calls will remain confidential, the chief said.
