Vanessa grew up in Mahwah and graduated from Mahwah High School and attended William Paterson University, her obituary says.  She pursued her passion to become a licensed cosmetologist and worked for Cookie Cutters Salon as a professional Children’s hairstylist. Midland Park Teen Serena Merwede Remembered For Her Voice The Midland Park community mourning the loss of Serena Merwede, who died on Jan. 17. She was 18 years old. A Facebook fundraiser for the family had raised more than $5,500 as of Wednesday evening. "The Merwedes have suffered the unimaginable loss of their only child, Serena," said the campaign, launched by Terri Morse.  "Not only is this an emotionally devastating time for them, but the financial burden is something they were not prepared for and we as a community can help." Northern Highlands HS Graduate Carolyn Edwards Dies In Florida, 41 UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. — Carolyn Ann Edwards of Upper Saddle River and Denville died on Jan. 5, in Hollywood, Fla. She was 41. Carolyn was born in Seoul, Korea and raised in Upper Saddle River by her mother, Cheryl Edwards, and her late father, Ali Shalforoosh.  She graduated Northern Highlands Regional High School in 1994, and went on to earn her Bachelors Degree at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware in 1998.
