Joe Gomez has worked in news rooms all across the world.

He started as a radio news reporter at Newsradio 850 KOA in Denver shortly after leaving the University of Colorado at Boulder. Gomez then went on to work as a reporter in Seattle, Houston, Dallas and Washington DC, where he was a National Correspondent for NBC News Radio.

He has appeared on National Television in the US, the UK and in Pakistan as a reporter and commentator.

Police Kill Man During Shootout In Montgomery County Montgomery County police officers shot and killed a man after a traffic stop in Silver Spring, officials said. The shooting happened on the morning of Dec. 29, the incident started when officers were called to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Bonifant Street at 4:15 a.m. An off-duty police officer found a man shot at the scene after hearing the sounds of gunfire. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he is expected to survive, police then began searching for the suspected shooter who had fled in a vehicle. John Cervenka Of Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Dies Christmas Eve A lifelong resident of Pasadena and Glen Burnie, John C. Cervenka has passed away at 50-years-old. Cervenka died on Christmas Eve in his home. The cause of death was not made public. As a native of Anne Arundel County, Cervenka graduated from Northeast High School in 1989. DC Man Uses Crossbow To Rob Trader Joe's Store A Washington DC man has been arrested after he brandished a crossbow while trying to steal from Trader Joe's, according to police. The incident happened at the Trader Joe's on 14th Street Northwest on Dec. 26 at around 12:55 p.m. The Metropolitan Police Department says 26-year-old Isis Jones hid merchandise to steal it, and when he was confronted by an employee, he took out a crossbow and pointed it in their direction. He and another suspect then fled the scene. Jones was arrested on Dec. 27, and charged with assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Crossbow) and Theft Two.

Maryland Congressman Says Talking About His Son's Suicide Saved His Own Life Jamie Raskin is opening up about his son's suicide. In a recent interview with "People" magazine, the Congressman said writing his new memoir saved his own life. The 59-year-old Democrat details a "life-altering" first few weeks in January 2021, where he had to face down a mob of angry Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol -- all while dealing with the loss of his 25-year-old son Tommy. Massive Search Under Way For Maryland Girl Who Vanished Before Christmas Police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing teenage girl from Silver Spring. Jennifer Esmeralda Orellana Ventura, 14, was last seen by her family on Dec. 23, in the 1600 block of Northcrest Drive, according to Montgomery County Police. She is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, has brown eyes, long brown hair and a nose piercing. Police and family are concerned for her welfare. Omicron Surge Halts Maryland Jury Trials New jury trials in Maryland are being postponed due to the unprecedented rise in COVID-19 fueled by omicron. The Maryland Judiciary announced that all jury trials scheduled between Dec. 29 and Feb. 8 will be rescheduled. Specific types of court cases will also only be heard remotely. Shooting In Prince George's County Leave 1 Dead, 2 Others Injured Police in Prince George's County are investigating a shooting that left two men injured and another man dead on Dec. 27. The shooting happened in the 9900 block of Good Luck Road in Lanham around 4:00 p.m. Investigators are still unclear as to what incited it. Three people were hit in the shooting, according to Prince George's County Police Department, two men were injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition, the third died of his injuries while at the hospital. Jacob Alexander Nicodemi, affectionately known as "Biggs," died on Dec. 23, of unknown causes. 20-Year-Old Alleged Maryland Burger King Shooter Held Without Bond A 20-year-old man who police say shot and killed another man at a Burger King in Frederick is being held without bond, according to FOX 5 DC. Darin Tyler Robey, is suspected of shooting Jaion Antonio Penamon multiple times when he tried to intervene in an altercation Robey was having with a female at the Burger King, according to the Frederick Police Department.
