The boy said the 20-something, dark-haired Hispanic driver of the turquoise SUV -- possibly a crossover -- shouted to him from across Godwin Avenue near the Whole Foods Market just before 4 p.m.

"The kid said he didn't respond and the driver kept going west on Godwin Avenue," Police Chief John Ward told Daily Voice. "There was no physical contact."

Patrol officers flooded the area and an alert was broadcast to other area law enforcement agencies.

Ward asked that anyone who witnessed the incident call Ridgewood PD: (201) 652-3900
