Child Stuffed Into Trunk Of Car Prompts Search In Washington Township, Police Say A man's claim that he saw a child climb into the trunk of a woman's car in the Pascack Valley section of Bergen County sparked an intense but fruitless area search, police said. The citizen told Washington Township police that he saw a white woman who appeared to be in her mid-30s get out of a dark red or maroon Toyota sedan in the 600 block of Chestnut Street around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, Corporal Christopher Osenbruck said. None of the injuries was considered serious after the pileup at the Van Emburgh and Washington avenues. Two flatbed tow trucks cleared the wreckage -- two of them Jeeps -- from the busy intersection.
