Damaging Tight Squeeze Brings Hackensack Firefighters
A moving company box truck got boxed in when its driver misjudged the height of the parking garage of a Hackensack office building. City firefighters removed the truck, which had damaged the ceiling of the ground-level garage on Passaic Street at Vanderbeck Place while getting wedged in around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. No injuries were reported. A city building inspector didn't report any structural issues. Woman Hit, Thrown By Car During Argument, Hackensack Police Seek Help Finding Fleeing Driver
SEE ANYTHING? Authorities sought the public’s help finding a driver who deliberately hit a woman with his car during an argument in Hackensack. A call of a person seen on the hood of a moving sedan brought police to the intersection of Anderson Street and Vanderbeck Place shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, Capt. Darrin DeWitt said. Overnight Clifton Stolen Car Chase Begins In Lyndhurst, Ends In Hackensack Crash
A Lyndhurst police officer pursued a stolen car through six towns overnight Wednesday before the driver crashed and bailed out in Hackensack. Officer Mark Rivera saw the driver of the silver Ford Focus reported stolen out of Clifton make an improper right turn onto Riverside Avenue from Valley Brook Avenue around 12:30 a.m., Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said. Rivera tried to pull the driver over, but he kept going, making unsafe lane changes and crossing over the double yellow line into Rutherford, he said.
