The mayor of Atlantic City and his wife, the superintendent of the city's public school district, have been accused of physically and emotionally abusing their teen daughter, including an incident that left her unconscious, authorities said.
Mayor Marty Small Sr., 50, and Dr. La'Quetta Small, 47, were slapped with several charges via summonses on Monday, Apr. 15, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. The couple was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

An ex-con with a history of making threats used racial slurs in alarming calls to a New Milford school, followed by 26 similar calls to borough police, authorities charged.
The first call by Sean Michael Persons, 39, of Hackensack last week was “threatening, offensive and had racial rhetoric,” alarming school administrators, Police Capt. Kevin Van Saders said.

A Pennsylvania woman and a Newark woman have both been charged with attempted murder after one handed the other a gun, instructing her to shoot at a 31-year-old female victim who was not struck over the weekend in Paterson, authorities said.
It started sometime before 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 near Wait and Wood streets in Paterson, when Abriyah Griffin, 25, of Newark, gave 31-year-old Lakenya Griffin, of Minersville, PA, the gun and told her to shoot the victim, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

Unruly Lyft Passenger Assaults Officers, EMS Workers In North Jersey, Police Say
A 56-year-old woman was arrested for assaulting police officers and EMS workers in North Jersey, authorities said.
It all happened around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when officers responded to First Street and Hudson Street in Hoboken on a report of a potentially drunk and unruly Lyft passenger, local police said.
As she was talking with authorities, Linda Smith, of Hoboken, punched and kicked the officers and EMS workers who were also called to the scene, according to police.
