Police have arrested a 34-year-old Paterson resident in a shooting robbery that happened last week. Jioni Rosado has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, and weapons offenses in the Aug. 23 incident at Highland and Sparrow streets, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said. Records show Rosado was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun 10 years ago. An ex-con from Paterson pulled a gun and shot another city man -- while threatening to kill a local woman -- during an argument, authorities charged. Paterson police captured Calvin Holmes, 34, in the area of North York Street and Sparrow Street on New Year’s Eve, several hours after the 3:15 p.m. shooting at Rosa Parks Boulevard and 12th Avenue. They charged him with attempted murder, making terroristic threats and several weapons offenses, including being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Fair Lawn Police Pursuit Into Paterson Ends In Arrest
A driver from Plainfield who was chased by Fair Lawn police after he fled a traffic stop Thursday morning was captured by Paterson officers, authorities said. Fair Lawn Officer Tiller Uriarte stopped a 2015 Chrysler van driven by Anthony Jenkins, 53, on Broadway at 29th Street around 10 a.m., Sgt. Brian Metzler said. Uriarte was returning to his patrol vehicle after an initial conversation when Jenkins hit the gas and took off, the sergeant said. Paterson Shooting Suspect Crashes, Nabbed By Pursuing Police
A shooting suspect tried to elude Paterson police but crashed his car while fleeing, bailed out and was corralled less than a block away, authorities said.
