Scrap Metal Company VP, 24, Killed In Jersey Shore Weekend Crash
The vice president of a scrap metal company died in a crash in Ocean County, authorities said.
Kevin Scoda, 24, of Edison, was killed in the crash on Route 72, the Stafford Township Police Department said in a news release on Tuesday, July 23. Officers responded to the scene near milepost 24.5 at around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 20.
Investigators said Scoda's 2023 Chevrolet Corvette collided with a 2018 Subaru while traveling east on Route 72. Scoda's sports car went off the road, crashed into a utility pole, and caught fire.

Seton Hall Student, 21, ID'd As Person Fatally Struck By Train In South Orange: NJ Transit
A 21-year-old man was identified as the person fatally struck by a train in South Orange on Wednesday, Dec. 13, NJ Transit officials said.
Joseph DeBari, a junior accounting major at Seton Hall University, was struck by a train not in passenger service, west of the South Orange station around 7:35 p.m., NJ Transit officials said.
The train was being moved eastbound on the Morris and Essex Line and no customers were on board and no crew were injured, NJ Transit said.

Maria Midrano Of Clark, 47, Remembered As Devoted Mom, Loving Wife
Maria Midrano of Clark died on Feb. 16, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was 47 years old.
Born in Plainfield and raised in Scotch Plains, Maria graduated from Seton Hall University with her Bachelor's in psychology, her obituary says.
Her obituary remembers her as a devoted mom who enjoyed baking for her family, and was loved by all.

The pastor of Cliffside Park’s Church of the Epiphany has resigned amid allegations that he abused a minor before he was ordained.
The Rev. Bruce Harger, 66, “has not been convicted of any civil or canonical crime” and has denied any wrongdoing, a spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Newark said.
He decided “after thorough and careful consideration” to step down until the matter is resolved, however, “out of concern for the people of the parish and for the benefit of the church,” the spokeswoman, Maria Margiotta, said in a statement.
