Jason "Jay" Menniti was a solid mechanic: He was honest and he was knowledgeable, customers of his father's Lodi auto shop said. The 46-year-old Pompton Plains resident was killed in a horrific accident when a car fell on him at his family's Lodi auto repair shop last week. A funeral for a 20-year-old Wyckoff man who was killed in a fiery motorcycle crash while being chased by police earlier this week is scheduled for Friday. Mourners were asked to gather at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main Street in Lodi for the funeral for Frank Lavato. A private cremation will follow. Janice Speziale Of Lodi Survived By 2 Young Daughters
The community is coming together to aid the daughters of Janice Speziale of Lodi, who died on May 20 at 34 years old. More than $2,600 had been raised as of Monday morning on a GoFundMe for Brenna and Chloe Garcia, the Teaneck native's daughters. "She loved her girls more than anything in this world," said Janice's sister Kim, the page founder. Kevin Marra Of Lodi Dies, 35
Kevin D. Marra of Lodi died on Oct. 21. He was 35 years old. Kevin was a self-employed construction worker and member of the Lodi Moose #1971, his obituary says. Many people left condolences for the family, some childhood friends remembering fond memories of playing outside with Kevin. His college friend, Brett Marinelli, remembered him as"one of the funniest guys I have ever met." West Nile Virus Kills Popular Lodi Little League Coach, 62
A popular longtime Little League baseball coach from Lodi died of the West Nile virus over the weekend -- the first in New Jersey this year. Fred J. Maikisch, 62, was diagnosed a little over a week earlier, loved ones said. He remained on a respirator in intensive care, but the virus “caused such severe damage” to his vital organsthat there was “no hope for recovery,” his sister-in-law said. He died Saturday.
