A 64-year-old New Milford man was seriously injured when he was struck by a commuter bus shortly before dawn Wednesday, authorities confirmed. The victim was struck at the intersection of Madison Avenue and River Road at 6:22 a.m. Feb. 21, New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Holy Name EMS and paramedics tended to the pedestrian, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, the chief said. A player had just collapsed at New Milford's new softball field when police arrived and found an off-duty nurse tending to him. He wasn't breathing and had no pulse, Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Sedan, SUV Collide In New Milford
Two drivers escaped serious injury in a crash Friday afternoon in New Milford. Bystanders got the female driver out of a Toyota Camry after it was knocked onto the driver's side by a Toyota 4Runner at the corner of Henley Avenue and River Road shortly before 2 p.m. Both she and the SUV driver didn't appear seriously injured, they said. New Milford police nabbed a pair of thieves who'd just loaded a motorcycle into a van before dawn Friday and took off, authorities said. Officer Michael Lafrano stopped the Perth Amboy pair on River Road and Faller Drive after a caller at a Columbia Street apartment complex alerted police around 3:30 a.m., Detective Lt. Motorcyclist Critically Injured In New Milford Crash
A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash Sunday night in New Milford, authorities said. The motorcycle struck a guardrail at Monmouth Avenue after the 41-year-old rider apparently lost control while heading north on River Road shortly after 9 p.m., Police Chief Brian Clancy said. The New Milford Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center in critical condition, the chief said. River Road was reopened around 11 p.m., he said. Five residents at a nursing home in New Milford have died of coronavirus complications and 16 more tested positive, along with six staff members, its parent company confirmed. A group of New Milford police officers rescued a 51-year-old borough woman who’d overdosed in her locked SUV. An officer broke the window so he and his colleagues could get to the victim in a rear River Road parking lot late Friday afternoon, Detective Lt. Kevin Van Saders said.
