Morning Rush: Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams NJ Turnpike Rush Into NYC A tractor-trailer burst into flames on the I-95 approach from the New Jersey Turnpike to the George Washington Bridge, clogging the Tuesday morning rush. The driver got the rig onto the shoulder of the local lanes near mile marker 117, roughly two-tenths of a mile before the Ridgefield Park exit, shortly after 6:30 a.m. May 16. Flames spread along the bottom of the trailer as the driver got out safely. Black smoke could be seen for miles. Ridgefield Park firefighters doused the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported. New Jersey State Police are investigating the cause.

Ridgefield Park firefighters extricated the driver of a BMW that was involved in the crash  at mile marker 67.7 in the local lanes approaching Hackensack in Bogota around 2:30 p.m. No serious injuries were reported, however. Broken Sprinkler Head Creates Water Leak At Bogota School BOGOTA, N.J. -- A broken sprinkler head at a Bogota elementary school caused a water leak Tuesday morning, responders said. Ridgefield Park firefighters also responded to the Lilliam M. Steen Elementary School on West Main Street, where classes continued. The water was temporarily shut off until repairs could be made.
