A 69-year-old pedestrian from Bloomingdale was struck and killed Thursday night in Pompton Lakes, authorities confirmed. Pompton Lakes native Daniel Schneider died at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center after he was struck on Ringwood Avenue near Carr Street and next to South Twin Lakes shortly before 8 p.m. Jan. 18, they said. A now-former Pompton Lakes police officer avoided potential prison time by pleading guilty to exchanging nude photos online with an underage teenager, authorities said. Mark Stinnard, 37, engaged in the relationship with the Riverdale youngster on his own time 3½ years ago and not while he was on the clock, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. Pompton Lakes Pedestrian, 57, Struck, Hospitalized
A 57-year-old Pompton Lakes resident remained in stable condition Tuesday after being struck while crossing a local street the night before, authorities said. Mark Schwartz was crossing Wanaque Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Subaru Outback driven by a 62-year-old borough man, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark said in a joint announcement.
