North Jersey Water Company To Restart Shutoffs On Thousands Of Delinquent Accounts
The Passaic Valley Water Commission plans to shut off water service to delinquent accounts starting April 3, the PVWC announced. A New Jersey program that prevented shutoffs during the winter ended on March 15. "PVWC has made frequent attempts to notify delinquent customers of their past due balances. . .'" the commission said in this announcement. A PVWC spokesman told NJ Advance Media that there are about 9,000 overdue accounts, of which about 6,500 are residential. ALERT: Water Main Break Closes Major Roadway Near Route 3
A 12-inch water main break temporarily closed a major thoroughfare near Route 3 in Clifton. "Customers in the immediate area may experience low pressure [and] discolored or no water while repairs are made," Bryan Frierson of the Passaic Valley Water Commission said shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16. Worker's Error Leaves Paterson Families Without Water For Entire Weekend: Report
A worker's error left between 60 and 70 Paterson families without water for several days, NorthJersey.com reports. A Passaic Valley Water Commission worker turned off a valve to fix a leaky one, but did not turn it back on when they were done, Mayor Andre Sayegh told the outlet. Families near Hinchliffe Stadium did not have water from Friday until Monday morning, officials said. All Paterson families had water as of Monday morning, officials said.
