Michael Joseph Downey, a Norwood resident who produced the well-reviewed movie "Roadie" and popular television commercials died on Sunday, March 18 at the age of 57, according to his obituary. Downey and his wife Christen founded Hero Content, which produced commercials for Nike and Proctor and Gamble, like the popular "Dawn Saves Wildlife" commercials. Downey assisted with charitable campaigns for Hackensack University Health Network, the PAL Wrestling Program and Family Promise of Bergen County, his obituary reads. A Closter driver died in a predawn crash despite furious efforts to save him, authorities said. The victim, 21, failed to negotiate a turn when his 2018 Mercedes GLE hit a tree and telephone pole before coming to rest on its side on Piermont Road near Alpine Drive at 4:46 a.m. Wednesday, Closter Police Chief John McTigue said. A 27-year-old Bergen County resident is facing charges for killing his ex-girlfriend's pets over the course of a year, authorities announced.
