Firefighters Quickly Douse Blaze In Hillsdale Home Under Renovation Authorities are probing the cause of a pre-dawn fire Monday in a house undergoing renovations in Hillsdale. The call to the split-level residence on Kinderkamack Road at Lawrence Street came in at 5:11 a.m. Aug. 14, Hillsdale Fire Chief Dan Schuster said. It "burned through" to the second floor, the chief said in a release. "The fire was knocked down in less than 15 minutes and placed under control at 5:41 a.m.," Schuster said. A borough police officer saw a Ford Explorer with Florida license plates speeding south on Kinderkamack Road moments after hearing an alert that it had been involved in thefts from vehicles in Woodcliff Lake. The northbound BMW X6 struck a tree and overturned in the driveway of a Kinderkamack Road home near Washington Avenue just before 2 a.m., police said.
