The call to the split-level residence on Kinderkamack Road at Lawrence Street came in at 5:11 a.m. Aug. 14, Hillsdale Fire Chief Dan Schuster said. It "burned through" to the second floor, the chief said in a release. "The fire was knocked down in less than 15 minutes and placed under control at 5:41 a.m.," Schuster said. A borough police officer saw a Ford Explorer with Florida license plates speeding south on Kinderkamack Road moments after hearing an alert that it had been involved in thefts from vehicles in Woodcliff Lake.
